A Murder Among Friends

By Jennifer Lewis Williams

Crime & mystery | Paperback, eBook

During the summer of 2005, Dallas radio station reporter Marcus Franklin Agaston is stunned when his friend Catherine, a pregnant surrogate for a childless gay couple, goes missing. When Catherine’s body appears on the shoreline of Lake Ray Hubbard seven days later, Marcus begins searching for her killer. While Marcus begins his hunt, his childhood friend’s demands for money threaten Marcus’s loyalty and propel Marcus’s husband Sam, a successful lawyer, into action. As Marcus uncovers clues to the killer’s identity, he must cope with betrayal from an unlikely source as a tragic event temporarily immobilizes him. When Marcus finally comes face-to-face with the real culprit, their meeting is shocking, but not as disturbing as Marcus’s final discovery.

Jennifer Lewis Williams is a busy attorney for a Texas appellate court who loves creating colorful characters to populate her crime fiction. Born and raised in Topeka, Kansas, she is a sister to a twin brother (only 15 minutes separates their births) and three other siblings. Being the baby of the family and the smallest as well, she often found herself alone with her imagination. Her love of reading led to one of her proudest moments when, at age 7, she won an award from her local library for reading the most books over the summer vacation. Jennifer attributes her skill at storytelling to her father, whose vivid oral stories about ghosts, monsters, and unusual people kept her and her siblings entertained on stormy and full-moon-lit nights. Jennifer has written short stories and poetry since her grade school days, and as an adult with a daughter in college, she finally pursued her dream of learning the craft of writing. She received a B.A. in English, with a creative writing emphasis, from the University of Kansas in 1994, and a J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in 1998. She went to Texas after law school, and currently resides in a Dallas suburb with four furry girls: a Pug, two Chihuahuas, and a Shar-Pei. She is a member of Mystery Writers of America, Southwest Division and Sisters In Crime. She loves creation myths from around the world, wearing bib overalls when relaxing, and reading science fiction, mysteries, and tales about the Old West. She is also a yearly participant in the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in November, and uses the event to plot out and write her newest novels.
