By Richard G. Stevens

Crime & mystery, Literary fiction | eBook

Winston Churchill is again running 1954 Britain. It is at last recovering from its costly war with Hitler’s Germany and Labour’s extensive nationalisation. A new dawn of peace and prosperity is promised, yet the Permanent Secretary to the Foreign Office is baffled. He cannot understand certain State decisions and fears that outside forces are pulling strings. He sets out to investigate but dies in peculiar circumstances. His successor, Alex Holmes, finds himself implicated and gets two options, as did his old boss, comply or die. A thrilling picture of post-war Britain is painted where train travel is the norm, even for bigwigs.
