Avanaux (a Hickory Lace scifi-fantasy adventure)

By PJ McDermott

Sci-Fi | Paperback, eBook

After she fails to prevent the assassination of a would-be Messiah, the empath Hickory Lace is demoted to a teaching role. When her father, whom she hasn’t seen since childhood, requests her help on a vital mission to the edge of the galaxy, she’s suspicious of his motives. However, the ex-field agent is desperate for another chance to prove herself, so she accepts the job. Hickory is sent to the strategic planet, Prosperine. Her mission: to check out the volatile political climate, as well as a problematic mystic called "the Teacher". The straightforward assignment turns nasty when Hickory uncovers an elaborate plot that could spell catastrophe for the human race. Hickory has one shot. She must banish the pain from her childhood and embrace the gifts she was born with. Only then will she have a chance to discover what the Teacher is up to, and decide whether he is a fraud — or perhaps the very person the Alien Corps was created to find.
