Rootless after finding his wife married to someone else when he returned following three years of bounty hunting in the Indian Nations, Travis VanHorn finds himself in Wichita, Kansas. Settling in for a beer, a bunch of Texas cowboys jumps VanHorn. Coming out ahead in this deadly fracas, VanHorn is hired as a deputy by Marshal Thom Hollenbeck. Soon VanHorn becomes embroiled in a feud between a group of German farmers and a group of would-be ranchers over a patch of land. After Hollenbeck is killed by the ranchers, led by Edson Musgrove and county Sheriff Ned Craddock, VanHorn faces off against the vicious ranchers.



John Legg has published more than 55 novels, all on Old West themes. BLOOD OF THE SCALPHUNTER, is his latest novel in the field of his main interest — the Rocky Mountain Fur Trade. He first wrote of the fur trade in CHEYENNE LANCE, his initial work.
