All Scripture contained in this book was taken from the Authorized King James Version of the Holy Bible, God’s word for the English speaking man. No other English version has stood up to the test of time. The words contained within the KJV Bible are still as relevant to us today, as they were thou-sands of years ago when God moved upon holy men of God to pen them down.
As you read, you will notice that the verses are in Italics to help you better understand which words are God’s words. It is through love for His word, and the difference it has made in my life that this book has come about. Each poem was in-spired by my daily Bible reading and prayer time. I hope that the words I have written will help you to further love Him, and have a greater appreciation for His word.
Because of Him,
Em Kennedy

The Light of His Love

“For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.” Psalm 18:28

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1

Sometimes when my way is dark
I feel like I can’t see
Past the darkness to the place
Where God wants me to be

It’s as if the darkness is a wall
That keeps things from my view
It feels as if it takes me away
From all I ever knew

It has a way of separating me
To a lonely place of fear
The darkness can take over my mind
And I feel there’s no one near

It causes me to feel like there’s no comfort
No one who understands
It feels as if even God Himself
Has given me over into the enemy’s hand

But for a brief space of time
That in His word I spend
I see the faint light of love
It’s beam my darkness rends

And while my focus is on Him
The darkness seems to flee
His comforting light shines
Down deep inside of me

With the courage that I gain
I then approach His throne
In prayer with new found faith
I remember I’m His own

My petition once made out of fear
Asking for deliverance
Soon becomes one of trust
Seeking His strength for endurance

For I realize with Him near
Each trial is a lesson He doth teach
As long as I have Him here with me
Any height I now can reach

If its darkness that He sends
I know that He knows best
With the light from His word
I can endure the test

If its heartache, pain or loss
It is but for my good
And His love will heal the wound
If I seek Him as I should

With His light my darkness fades
With His strength I’m strong
In His arms sweet comfort finds
I’m sheltered from all wrong

The trial is not over yet
I must still His strength borrow
I know He is in control
In His hand is my tomorrow

The Greatest Blessing

I would like to praise the Lord
For all He’s done for me
For the blessings in my life
And the things that I can’t see

Like the Love that He shares
And the Grace He bestows
For His ever Guiding Hand
And the Mercy He shows

I’m also thankful for the ones
He has allowed into my life
For the blessings of being
A mother and a wife

But more than that, I’d have to say
That I thank Him most of all
For loving me beyond all loves
And freeing me from the fall

For though I had all other things
But lacked this major part
I’d have no peace, no joy, no hope
No reason to sing from the heart

For what is life without the Lord?
What is life without love?
What is more important than
Being at peace with God above?

For what if I could gain the whole world
Yet still in sin be bound?
What good would it be? Just misery
Without a hope that’s sound

This fleeting life is but a vapor
Fading fast away
But our soul is eternal
And must meet God some day

To pay for the sin that’s been committed
It would take an eternity in Hell
Unless one excepts the free atonement
Of Jesus’ death of which the Bible tells

So what is your choice?
Or have you decided?
For me, I chose Jesus
And inside my heart He resided

This is the greatest blessing
That in my life I’ve known
To be redeemed and forgiven
Free from the sin I’ve sown

I thank the Lord most every day
For what He’s done for me
For I don’t want to ever get over
How He has set me free

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the for-giveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” Ephesians 1:7

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salva-tion.” Romans 10:9-10
