In June 1940, Nazi Germany invaded France and implemented in collaboration with Vichy authorities’ measures against Jews. In 1942, the Nazis started the Final Solution. Jewish children were victims of the persecution. Judaic organizations along with the French population and institutions of Christian charity to save the youngster from extermination created a rescue plan. They were hiding in the free zone of France, convents, boarding school and in rural areas with families, who protected Jews, saving them from deportation. This novel chronicles Elijah and his brothers get away from Paris, at the time of the Vel’d’Hiver Roundup on July 16th, 1942. In those dangerous times, the kids traversed half of France's territory fleeing the police, and the Gestapo, with the sole hope to reach Switzerland. They found courageous people that helped them survive, organizing the stages of their escape regardless the danger of being denounced to Gestapo.

Maria Price was born in Managua, Nicaragua and was educated in Lausanne, Switzerland. She returned to Nicaragua in 1997 after living in the United States (Houston, TX) for over twenty years with her family. Since her return to life in Nicaragua, Mrs. Price has focused her professional efforts on issues related to trade, nature -based tourism, and conservation of the wild fauna of Nicaragua's dry tropical forests, in addition to writing short stories for children.
