GHOST OF GALLIPOLI

By MARGARET WHITTOCK

Historical fiction, Paranormal, Thriller | Paperback, eBook

Two young people leave Ireland for Turkey, eighty years apart: for one, Private Jack Callaghan, newly enlisted in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, a bitter parting from his fiancée; for the other, Jack’s great-niece, Ellie McKnight, the promise of an exciting new life. Set against the fabulous backdrop of Istanbul, Ghost of Gallipoli is part thriller, part ghost story... and part love story. Above all, it is a tale of betrayal and revenge, and of how the sins of our fathers may be revisited on their descendants, regardless of time or place.

Margaret Whittock has lived and worked in Northern Ireland, London, Istanbul, Accra, and the Turks and Caicos Islands, and has travelled around the world. As an academic researcher she has been widely published in academic journals, texts, newspapers and magazines; her PhD, Feminising the Masculine?: Women in Non-Traditional Employment, was published in 2000 and is available on Amazon. Margaret has published two ebooks on Amazon: the first, Ghost of Gallipoli, her debut novel, and part of a planned trilogy, was inspired by the chance discovery of her great-uncles’ headstones at V Beach Cemetery in Gallipoli. Her second novel, Blood Sisters, was inspired by her involvement in gender studies at university, and is now also available on Amazon. She also writes short stories: Silver Darlings has just been published by Dark Hall Press in an Anthology of Ghost Stories. Margaret is currently working on Billy Blitz, the second novel in the Callaghan Trilogy, due for publication in 2014. Ghost of Gallipoli is soon to be published in paperback ... in time for the WW1 Centenary.
