A Relative Invasion: A Trilogy

By Rosalind Minett

Historical fiction | Paperback, eBook

This volume includes all three books of the trilogy, A Relative Invasion. The themes of psychological bullying, sibling rivalry, wartime parenting practices and the adult outcomes of early childhood experiences have resonated with many readers, male and female, of all ages in 18 different countries. “This well-executed emotional drama” (Historical Novel Society) explores the fateful relationship between Billy and his talented but devious cousin, Kenneth. An early draft of A Relative Invasion was runner-up in the Yeovil Prize (novel) and gained a full critique from Harper Collins writers’ site: “—a powerful and compelling narrative with strong and relatable characters… The author is deft in capturing that sense of tightly controlled emotions in the parents’ characters…it foreshadows the violence about to erupt in Europe..." Book One was submitted for and gained a Brag Medallion. Book Three was submitted for and gained a Discovering Diamonds. A Relative Invasion will appeal to those who have enjoyed 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time'; 'The Boy with Striped Pajamas'; 'The Catcher in the Rye' and Michael Frayn's 'Spies'.

Rosalind writes novels, short stories and also enjoys reviewing. Her short stories have been included in several anthologies and performed in Bath's Story Friday. Rosalind thoroughly enjoyed her successful career as a psychologist studying and reporting upon how people think, learn and behave. Predictably it is the inner life of her characters that drives her plots whether the genre is humour, historical or crime. She relishes quirkiness, and loves creating complex characters of all ages. She is the author of Me-time Tales; tea breaks for mature women and curious men, as well as a series of crime shorts and the trilogy and prequel A Relative Invasion. She lives in the South West of England and spends her non-family time writing, sculpting and painting.
