Andrew Murray at Keswick: Three Unrevised Talks Given in 1895

By Andrew Murray

Religion & spirituality, Biography & memoir | eBook

What makes these three talks special is the fact that Andrew Murray never revised them for publication as he had done with sermons he had delivered at other conventions during 1895. They are therefore ostensibly word for word as he delivered them. I therefore invite you—in your mind’s eye—to become one of the attendees at the Keswick Convention of 1895, and to imagine Andrew Murray preaching these sermons with light and shade and fiery exuberance.

Andrew Murray (1828-1917) is a highly-esteemed South African-born author of over 200 devotional books and tracts that have been translated into 15 languages. During his life-time he was also known as a Spirit-filled evangelist who preached at conventions throughout England and America. Not only did he spearhead female education in South Africa, but he also championed the missions’ thrust into Africa as far as the Sudan. In 1898, he was awarded a Doctorate in Divinity from Aberdeen University, and in 1907, a Doctorate in Literature from Cape Town University. He retired from active ministry in 1906. The remaining years of his life was spent writing books and organizing ministers’ conferences throughout South Africa.
