Cries-at-Moon of the Kitchi-Kit

By Gary Dudney

Action & adventure, Young adult | Paperback

Cries-at-Moon, a Native American boy living on the Great Plains prior to Coronado’s incursion, becomes entangled with a formidable medicine man when he shows an unusual talent for understanding the ways of the buffalo. Much to his dismay, Cries-at-Moon finds the fate of his whole tribe coming more and more into his hands. In alternating chapters, we learn the story of a modern day professor, who is obsessed with unlocking the mystery behind the disappearance of a group from the anthropological record, Cries-at-Moon’s own Kitchi-Kit tribe. One of the professor’s students, Kevin, agrees to help with the professor’s unorthodox research. Kevin’s involvement turns dark just as his no nonsense girlfriend had predicted. In a surprising resolution, the fates of Cries-at-Moon and Kevin become entwined across the centuries and both must face tests of courage.
