De Novo "The Beginning"

By Jane Patrick Walls

General fiction | Paperback, eBook

Audra found that the digging was helping to keep away the cold that was permeating the ground. She remembered her mother saying it was going down to freezing tonight. As she worked her up the wall, she would put her foot in the freshly dug foothold and press her back to the wall behind her easing her body up the side. She fell often but thoughts of her mother and fear kept her going. Her hands were bleeding and raw. Her nose was running. She kept wiping her nose on her sleeve. Dirt was smeared with snot across her face. She knew she couldn't stop as her mother wound sound the alarm and the Sheffield boys would know where to look for her. No one else would know and her life would be over.

This book is dedicated to my oldest brother who received his promotion to heaven December 23, 2014. He was the first living son born to our parents. Two brothers died at birth in the 1930's. Our parents are no longer living but the love that instilled in us lives on. 1Thessaslonians 43:13-14 But I would not have to be ignorant, brethren concerning them which are asleep that you sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
