Golden Legend- Lost City in the Andes

By Oscar Luis Rigiroli

Thriller | Paperback, eBook

A 10th century saga recounts the arrival of a castaway Scandinavian to the New World and the Mayan cities of the time. He is accepted in them under the influence of the God Kukulkan myths An uncertain but recurrent genetic thread links those misty characters with the protagonist in the current era, a young Mexican archaeologist, and through her with the members of an expedition whose role is to find El Gran Paititi, legendary lost city of the Incas, busily sought in Peru by adventurers and scientists over the past centuries. El Great Paititi, along with Eldorado and the city of the Caesars is a trilogy of lost cities in America since the days of the conquest. Myths about lost civilizations have a presence standing in all cultures because they exert an irresistible romantic attraction on the human soul. Actions start in the Yucatan Peninsula, where the central characters are introduced and then they are transferred to the region between the Amazon Basin and the Andes Mountains. The search unfolds first in jungle lustful environments of the tributaries of the Amazon River, on the border between Peru and Brazil, and in the forests of Peruvian highlands afterwards. At both sites the explorers, at the expense of great efforts and innumerable dangers, find hidden in the landscape vestiges of the old lost culture. But the expedition has attracted the attention of dangerous people who are looking for Paititi by its riches, which they seek to put at the service of a world power restoration project. A former Soviet intelligence leader commands a gang of mercenaries of many nationalities. Finally, a strange millennial group of alleged descendants of the Incas intends to expel all foreigners who pollute the sacred site of the race, which they seek to preserve for the day of the resurrection of the vast Empire. All these elements interact in the novel, creating a climate of sustained suspense and anxiety which is finally resolved unexpectedly. Although it is obviously fiction, the main facts that form the basis of the plot come precisely from a legendary substratum to which the author accessed through extensive research of the author.
