By Rosalind Minett

Historical fiction, Literary fiction, General fiction, Children's | Paperback, eBook

“Historically authentic and psychologically insightful. A future classic.” September 1940. Relentless bombing in London means Billy must be evacuated once again. This time, sinister cousin Kenneth comes too. While Billy is separated from family and billeted with an elderly couple on a small-holding, Kenneth is billeted beside Billy's mother and sister. He can now continue his invasion into Billy's psychological space. Billy's imaginary power from the precious Cossack sabre now comes only from its photograph. He hides it where he can secretly bring it out as a charm, protecting him from all dangers. A family catastrophe causes a new invasive threat from Kenneth. This one will affect both their futures permanently. What's more, the precious photograph goes missing. How far can Billy become the hero he wants to be? Infiltration tells of childhood resilience despite world war and parenting ignorance. It follows a boy's growth into personal responsibility.

Not surprisingly, for a psychologist, it is the inner life of her characters that drives her plots whether the genre is humour, historical or crime. She enjoys writing in different genres, and is likely to continue to do so. She relishes quirkiness, and loves creating complex characters of all ages. She lives in the South West of England and spends her time writing, sculpting and painting.
