Patchwork Annie

By Brenda O'Bannion

Children's | Hardback, eBook

A fun-loving story about a delightful character named Annie, who is not only resourceful, but just plain lucky. When Annie finds herself in need of earning some money, she comes up with a great idea and sets off a chain of events that shocks an entire town! The story incorporates the tradition of quilting with an amusing "play on words." It's a story to be enjoyed by children and adults alike!

O'Bannion was born in East Texas and lived most of her childhood there. She received an undergraduate degree in education from Stephen F. Austin University and a masters degree from Lamar University. O'Bannion taught elementary students for 18 years. She currently lives with her husband in Victoria, Texas where she works as an administrator over special education and Title I for the Region Three Education Service Center. From the time she was 10 years old, writing has been a part of O'Bannion's life. As an elementary student, she always participated in UIL writing events and later, wrote for her high school newspaper. As an adult she has written many stories for her students and grandchildren. Since the release of her first book, Crowbaby and Dawfie, which has a child with autism as the main character, she has been a speaker at several Autism conferences. She also presents her books at schools, libraries, and book stores. Always a teacher, O'Bannion writes teacher guides for all of her children books. Aside from writing, O'Bannion enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren and working with special needs children and their parents at her church. She also enjoys quilting which is evident in her latest children’s book, Patchwork Annie, a delightful story about a quilt contest. Quoting the author…”For me, writing is just necessary. It is both relaxing and stimulating. Nothing is more difficult than searching for just the right way to say something; but then, nothing feels better than getting it just right! Knowing that my stories will be in the hands of children and will help foster a love of reading in them is truly a blessing for me.”
