Pierre Hideaway Pinkett

By Lisa Sharpe

Children's | Paperback, eBook

Reviewed By Sierra Edelen for Readers’ Favorite Pierre Hideaway Pinkett is an unusual boy, brought to Caroline by some unusual circumstances. She raises him as her own, although he was given to her by a witch. He is adventurous and full of mischief, and later meets the same witch that gave him to Caroline. What will he do when she wants to eat him? We watch the tale unfold and meet Cooper, who is looking for his money but the witch has it. A plan is made, so what is it, and what will transpire? I really liked Pierre Hideaway Pinkett: Escape From Tanda's Wrath by Lisa Sharpe, and it will be an excellent book for children. It is written in poetry, and has just enough rhyme to keep one's attention, but not too much as to be annoying. It is a lovely little short story and great for kids who are learning about poetry or who are just starting to read more heavy stuff, so may be suitable for kids in second to fifth grade. It does have a hint of violence in it for a children's book, but it is not graphic and is a large part of the story. I am not one much for poetry, but I liked this because it was simple, charismatic and the author kept it easy to understand while also keeping the attention of young readers. I feel it could be a good bedtime story, where you put on all the different voices for kids and make them laugh, or for the older ones, to just sit and read it to them and create that bonding time.
