Stinky and Eddie: A Fine Bromance

By Peter Grant

Comedy & satire, Short stories | eBook

You are holding a collection of stories, many about lovers young and old, and all of them have happy endings. This is a sly way of warning you that it is a work of fiction. No tearful partings, broken crockery or thwarted suicide attempts. It starts when Stinky relates a dream in which he and his sister become Hansel and Gretel and turn a child-roasting witch into a vegan in less than twenty-four hours. Learn how an ethnospecific pair of characters like Stinky and Eddie gets tangled up with an ethnogeneric undercover cop. He and Eddie team up to prevent “a spring without pansies.” Lucky for wardrobe it isn’t Eddie who has to don heels and a snazzy copy of Anita’s costume from "West Side Story." Young love flies into our heroes’ lives when a long-lost cousin returns to town as a Flying Monkey and announces his engagement. Expecting congratulations, he awakens the latent wedding planner genes in his aunt and the event is quickly as out of control as Dorothy’s tornado. It takes Stinky’s craft to arrange for a safe landing for all. When you read how Stinky and Eddie rescue their nephew from a summer camp located in the Poison Ivy Capital of America, you too will join the millions of Americans who plan their vacations to avoid the place. We skip over Nephew Gradey’s sullen teen years and return to him a jaded sophomore, working as a summer intern at his uncle’s firm. Will his work ethic improve under an ambitious and highly motivated supervisor? It couldn’t get worse than the previous summer when he did almost nothing and yet managed to do it a bit differently every day. The bonus story is a tale of old and young lovers. Overworked Stinky finally stops to consider what he’s doing with his life and what he should be doing. And if you still need a reason to buy this book, how cool is it to finally learn that after twenty-seven years together, Eddie and Stinky don’t pronounce “Morrissey” the same way?

Peter Grant's first published work was a nonfiction account of how an incredible college chapel was built by the National Cathedral's architects during the Great Depression. That true story has a happy ending, and so do all the fictional Stinky Stories. All Amazon bestsellers, they are available as individual titles or, like this book, collected into volumes.
