The Apocalypse of Roger: A Warning to the Furious

By Roger Moncrieff

Comedy & satire, Crime & mystery | eBook

In the post-Brexit economic tundra of the year 2028, only Roger Moncrieff, an arrogant Oxford PhD student, is surprised that being an expert in Early Middle English Literature is no guarantee of making a living, and sets out on a journey through poverty and homelessness, walking the tightrope between polarised political factions before ultimately becoming the most hated man in the country after accidentally committing an appalling crime. This is his autobiography.

Dr. Roger Moncrieff is one of the UK's foremost experts on Early Middle English Literature. He's also a convicted criminal, currently serving time at HMP Christminster for a much-reported crime committed in 2029. Described as 'the most disgusting man in the country' by Bishop Porkes of Pigham, Roger was born in Surrey in 2003, where he attended 'a middling private school' before taking his first two degrees at the University of London. A generous PhD scholarship ('fortuitously agreed a few weeks before the EU turned off the money-hose once and for all') took him to Lilith's College, Oxford in 2025, where he is remembered as an antisocial fat-git. The students he lectured at his alma mater in 2026/7 remain in counselling.
